The Matteson Public Library District Board of Trustees are seeking applicants for a vacancy on the Library Board. The Board will appoint a Trustee to serve until the next Consolidated General Election in April 2025. Interested candidates are encouraged to review this document and submit the documents as described below.

What is the Role of a Library Trustee? Library Trustees are responsible for establishing and supporting policies that govern Library operations, exercising fiduciary responsibility through excellent fiscal management, participating in long-range planning to continue meeting the needs of the community, and being a strong advocate for the Library community at large.

Other helpful information about our Library Board and Trustee responsibilities:

Meeting Schedule: Regular meetings take place on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. Special meetings may be called in accordance with the Board Bylaws. The full annual schedule of regular meetings is approved by the Board and published on the MAPLD website. Requirements: Pursuant to the Public Library District Act of 1991, 75 ILCS 16/30-20 (d) and (e), applicants must have resided within the Library District boundaries for at least one year, must not be in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the Library District, and must not have been convicted in any court in the United States of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony.

Applicants must also be a registered voter.
