Kanopy has a lot of documentaries that tell the history of trials and tribulations of starting a black business in America.  Below are some summaries of the documentaries on the list found here.

The Uprising of ’34: A startling documentary which tells the story of the General Strike of 1934, a massive but little-known strike by hundreds of thousands of Southern cotton mill workers during the Great Depression.
Good Hair: Chris Rock explores the wonders of African-American hairstyles.
She Did That: This documentary explores the passionate pursuits of Black women entrepreneurs. SHE DID THAT offers a peek inside the lives of Black women committed to opening doors for future generations.
