September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and no matter what your tastes are, a library card hits all the right notes! Whether you want to check out a classic story or hit shuffle and try something new, your library card is the ultimate backstage pass.

Find harmony at book clubs, movie nights, crafting classes, and author talks. Having a headphone kind of day? Find your focus in a private study room or vibe out in a cozy reading nook. You can even check out instruments, tools, and gadget kits in our Library of Things. No matter what rhythm you find yourself in, there’s a front-row seat waiting for you.

Tune In to the Perks All Month Long

We’re turning up the volume on rewards all month long with fun, prizes, and surprises. When you visit us, you can take advantage of some incredible perks:

  • Cardmember Raffles (Drawn Bi-Weekly):

    • New Members: Sign up for a new card to enter our raffle for a stylish tote bag or an exclusive Library Card Sign-Up T-shirt!

    • Existing & Renewing Members: Renew your card or stop in to enter a raffle for an official Library Swag Bag!

  • Service Desk Scavenger Hunt: Track down clues around the library to enter a special drawing for a $25 Amazon Gift Card!

  • Exclusive Skate Party: Matteson residents who get a new or renewed library card this month get an invitation to our Members-Only Skate Party Event on October 3rd from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM!

Interactive September Activities

  • Discover the Sound: Keep your eyes peeled as you browse the stacks! We’ve hidden colorful music notes and vinyl records around the building. Scan the QR codes on them with your phone to listen to secret songs and sounds.

  • What’s Your Theme Song? Stop by our activity table to grab a mini record necklace. Write your personal theme song on the label, decorate it, and loop it through a colorful beaded chain.

  • Show Off Your Bling: Once your necklace is complete, strike a pose in front of our MAPLD backdrop and take a picture with your new library swag. Photo station sessions run from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
