Our #1 priority is the safety of the staff and anyone entering the building are required to wear a mask and have their temperature taken. Service is limited at this time and access to certain areas of the building are currently restricted.

In response to recent public health recommendations concerning COVID-19, we are not taking material donations at this time and on-site library programs have been cancelled but, we are offering online programs. Check out our event calendar here. In the meantime we strongly encourage you to use the digital tools the library provides. Find those here!

This safety measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution, not due to any known exposure. We regret any inconvenience this causes. Please check back on our website for any updates.

Good news from SWAN Library Services:
Anyone who had cards that expires between 1/1/20 – 9/7/20 they have been updated to expire 12/31/20 so that patrons can access online materials. They will not expire until then, so do not worry about renewing at this time.

All library checked out items are now due. We are asking that ALL returns still be placed in the silver drop boxes outside in the NW corner of the parking lot. The items may appear on your account for up to 7 days as they are quarantined and cleaned, but you will not be charged late fees at this time. Holds are open for Matteson cardholders. Returning items have to be quarantined for 7 days, and after their quarantine they are disinfected and then returned to the shelves or sent to the next person. So we ask for your patience in getting held items to you.

If you have been unable to access the library’s online resources due to outstanding fines or bills, the blocks to your account(s) have been temporarily lifted so library cardholders can access them at this time.

Fines on materials that were due after March 15 were suspended so, if you need a temporary library card to access our eResourses you can fill out this form here to receive a free library card. These temporary cards cannot place holds or checkout physical items. If you want physical materials at this time, but do not have a regular library card, call the library and staff will attempt to schedule a time to get one to you.
